Are you a new Transfer student looking to get a head start?

Transfer Edge during Session II: July 31, 2021 – September 9, 2021 (ONLINE)

Transfer Edge is an optional early start program which prepares you for success at UCI and beyond. Students participating in Transfer Edge enroll in at least one course of their choosing in addition to the program required University Studies 196 which helps students learn more about undergraduate research, adapt to the academic expectations at UCI, network with faculty, meet fellow transfer students and more. In addition, you will gain access to exclusive events and support from our student mentors and professional staff counselors. Benefits of the program include:

Student Experience

Students participating in Transfer Edge get the opportunity to embrace UCI and everything it has to offer at a time when the campus is more relaxed from the peak occupancy of the academic year. The student experience at Transfer Edge is designed to build your confidence in handling the academic rigor of UCI, the pace of the quarter system (summer sessions are 5 weeks of instruction per session – even more accelerated than a traditional quarter) and to ultimately ensure that you have found an Institution where you know you belong.

Events

Students participating in Transfer Edge also get exclusive access to workshops and events that connect them with campus resources, information, and their fellow incoming peers.

Enrollment

Transfer Edge Enrollment will open in late April 2021. Transfer Edge is an OPTIONAL early start program available to NEW UCI Transfer Students.

The 6 Steps to Enrollment
A key part of Transfer Edge features a presentation series known as INSIDE UCI. These presentations by prominent UCI faculty will give you a “front row seat” to the diverse academic paths and current research of UCI faculty. You will be able to ask them questions about their academic journeys, how they became interested in research, and why they do what they do. Transfer Students are required to attend at least TWO of these events per the UNI STU 196 course requirements.

For students enrolling in Transfer Edge, the dates below will guide you through the dates and tasks associated with registering for the Transfer Edge Program. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Academic Courses
By taking classes in the summer, students have the opportunity to acclimate to the expectations of UC Irvine coursework and begin completing major courses and/or general education requirements before the fall quarter begins. Smaller classes during Summer Session also means more one-on-one time with professors or TA’s!
Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available for students taking courses this summer. If you would like to be considered for summer financial aid, you must complete both the following steps by their respective deadlines.

Transfer Boost!

Transfer Boost is a 6 week workshop series taking place over the course of Summer Session I to help answer the questions we hear from Transfer Students the most. Workshops are optional, independent of each other (unless noted otherwise) and offered at no additional cost to you. Learn about key transfer resources like Student Success Initiatives – Transfer Student Center, get to meet some fellow Transfer Students outside of the classroom, or use it as an opportunity to decide if you want to participate in the more robust Transfer Edge experience. For summer 2021, Transfer Boost will be held online.

Who can join?

All new transfer students enrolled in summer coursework through UCI Summer Session. That’s right! You don’t have to enroll in Transfer Edge to get access to our Transfer Boost workshop series.
